A Big Boy Bed
Zeke has been a wonderful sleeper the last two plus years of his life; never cried or complained at nap or bed time, has always slept through the night (unless he was sick), has never slept in our bed (with the exception of the first two months of his life) and has even asked to be put to bed on occasion. Until last week that is, he woke up in the middle of the night screaming like he was badly hurt and said that he was scared. He laid in bed with us for 5 hours before he fell back asleep and I put him in his crib. He was fine for two nights after that and then suddenly he was scared again and didn't want to sleep in his crib. We decided to put him down anyway and see how long we could bear to hear him cry himself to sleep. So we put him down and a couple minutes later he stopped crying to our surprise until moments later he toddled right into our bedroom. We decided that for his safety he couldn't sleep in a crib anymore (plus it was obvious he wasn't going to stay put anyway). We've blown up an air mattress as a temporary solution until we can find him a real bed. We call it his big boy bed and he loves it. He's been in it three nights, the first night we had to put him back in bed four times in a ten minute time frame, the second night two times in a five minute time frame and the third night only once but didn't make it to our room before he turned around and put himself back in bed. Hopefully the worst is over.
