The State Fair

We went to the fair this week with a couple of my sisters and a couple of Zeke's cousins. The kids were so excited to see all the different animals they had there. Zeke was particularly excited to see the cows, baby pigs and baby chicks.

Zeke got to touch and pet the baby chicks but he really wanted to hold one. My sister picked up a baby chick to help Zeke hold it and he went to grab the chick and squeezed it a little too hard. I told him to be careful and not squeeze them so hard, he doesn't like being told what to do or not do so he threw a fit and that was the end of baby chicks.

We also stopped by the PBS booth where Zeke got to see all of the cutouts of his favorite cartoon characters. We were also able to grab some great coloring pages and stickers.

We saw all the giant prize winning produce and they had this agriculture booth where the kids could take a bucket and walk down a path and see all the different crops grown here and when they got to a certain spot they picked some fruits and veggies to put in their bucket. Then they went to a little farmers market where they could weigh and sell the produce they collected. Zeke was so excited to collect everything but very distraught that they wanted to take everything away from him. There were a few tears but they gave him a fake five dollar bill in exchange and I was able to calm him down. Then a few steps later we get to a little store and they took his five dollar bill from him and gave him a little bag of goodies. He was upset that yet again they wanted to take something from him. I thought it was such a neat idea and hopefully he'll appreciate it more next year.

And we rapped things up by getting all our typical fair food. Free hush puppies, 50 cent pickle, 50 cent milk and I couldn't leave without picking up some fried dough so we grabbed an elephant ear. There was a lot of walking involved but Zeke really enjoyed it and he still hasn't stopped talking about all the animals. As much as we enjoyed it I'm just glad the fair only comes once a year.
